50 Mile March Supports Veterans

On August 24th, amidst the vast expanse of Nebraska’s landscape, one of our company’s founders and leaders, Steve Kunkel, embarked on a remarkable journey—a 50 Mile March from Lincoln to Omaha. But this was no ordinary walk. Steve undertook this challenge with a purpose—to raise awareness and funds for veterans facing mental health challenges and homelessness, a cause close to his heart.

For Steve, military service is not just a chapter in his family’s history—it’s a legacy that has shaped his values and guided his actions. His family tree is adorned with heroes who have served their country with pride. From his grandfather’s time in the Navy to his father’s Marine Corps service, and his brother’s current role in the Air Force, the call to serve runs deep in Steve’s veins. He himself served in the Nebraska Army National Guard, carrying forward the tradition of dedication and sacrifice.

But Steve could not achieve this goal alone. Recognizing the power of collective action, he rallied his team at all Stonebrook Companies to join him in this cause. Together, they set a bold target of raising $10,000, with a commitment to matching every dollar contributed. This meant that every donation had the potential to double in impact, amplifying the support for local organizations that provide vital services to veterans, from housing assistance to mental health care and job training.

As one of the check-in points, Stonebrook Exterior had the Dillon Gaige Band playing live, delicious food, and refreshing drinks for all who came out to show their support. SignGypsies created fantastic yard signage for our walkers, adding an extra touch of excitement and encouragement on this 5th anniversary of the 50 Mile March.

As Steve Kunkel and other participants marched on, their footsteps echoed a message of hope and solidarity for those who have bravely served their country. And now, as we stand in the wake of their incredible feat, we have the opportunity to join him in making a difference. So, how can you help? By contributing to this noble cause, you can be a part of a movement that strives to improve the lives of our veterans. Every penny counts, and together, we can reach and even surpass our goal of $20,000, ensuring that those who have sacrificed so much for us are provided with the support they deserve.

A huge thank you to all the Military men and women who have served for our freedom.
